My Research Progress
The materials that I used for my research progress was IUP libraries which lead me to use ebscohost and also the articles achieve where I found all of my information from. I used Google and yahoo and also at the Philadelphia inquirer to find articles and information about my city. The most frustrating part about my research progress was trying to work ebscohost because I couldnt figure out how to find an article on the topic that I was looking for. And I also couldn’t figure out how to save the article that I wanted so later on I could go back to the article to find information about my certain topic. Furthermore this research progress was a little stressful but I got through it and I learned how to find the information that I needed.

bullying in rual areas vs. urban ares
Sherer Y, Nickerson A. Anti-bullying practices in American schools: Perspectives of school psychologists. Psychology in the Schools [serial online]. March 2010; 47(3):217-229. Available from: Academic Search Complete, Ipswich, MA. Accessed November 16, 2011
Violence and bullying are the same in rural areas and also urban areas because in rural areas kids would get bullied for the same things that they would get bullied for urban areas. It doesn’t matter where you come from. For example in this article it says how if you were underprivileged then you would get bullied for the things that you have on, In both rurual and urban areas. You would also get bullied for the way you may act in school, for example if you were very smart and was a good kid and didn’t bother anyone. Then you would get bullied because you would be considered to be a dork or a geek because you knew too much. The bullies’ were people who were popular and they were people who everyone knew by first and last name. They were also people who everyone thought was the prettiest. And who everyone wanted to be because the bullies basically had power because everyone liked them that much and would worship the ground that they walked on.

Violence & Bullying
Philadelphia schools there is a big issue which is school violence. In many public schools in Philadelphia many kids have to worry about their safety while there in school. They also have to worry about being bullied and worried about kids bring guns and drugs to school. Philadelphia is not the only city where kids have to worry about their safety in schools there are also many other cities that have had school shootings. For example in the article that I read it talks about school shootings.it says how many schools in other states had school shootings. Just to name a few there are “Columbine High School, Red Lake High School and Virginia Tech University". All of these incidents were caused from being bullied. In the article it says "A report examining school shootings concluded that, in 66 percent of the cases of high-level violence, “the attackers felt persecuted, bullied, threatened. Attacked or injured by others prior to
the incident". This chronic victimization may have been a powerful motivating force behind the shootings." furthermore I have experienced school violence in my high school. There was this one boy who everyone used to pick because he didn’t wear name brand clothes and what he used to wear was cheap clothes. So a lot of people would pick on him and tell him how corny he dressed. They would a lot call him dumb and mess with him every day. Until one day when the boy finally got fed up and told the school principle that he was getting picked on.

About Me!!
Hello! My name is Michelle Lampley is shy & goofy. I am from North Philadelphia. I've live here my whole life. The neighborhood that I grew up in is a dangerous neighborhood that has a lot of violence and crime. I went to Mastery Charter High School Lenfest Campus. My high school has prepared me a lot for college. Mainly because my high school is a college based school that focuses on getting their students prepared for college and making sure they go and graduate from college. I have been in charter school every since I could remember. My mom always made sure that I got a good education and went to a safe school. My high school is at 4th n market downtown. It was fun going to high school downtown because I had many opportunities to go places and since I was in old city downtown I could learn about the history of my city and learn about the different historic buildings.
